MWS Workplace Safety, Manual Handling, Fire Awareness, Health & Safety qualifications

ITC Level 2 Award in Fire Safety (England & Wales) or ITC Award in Fire Safety at SCQF Level 5 (Scotland)

This qualification aims to ensure that all candidates are fully informed and aware of the hazards to safety when an outbreak of fire occurs in the workplace. The fire safety training course is an accessible one day course aimed at anyone who may need to raise the alarm upon identifying a fire, or who may need to use a fire extinguisher to ensure people and property are adequately protected.


A short 3-hour certificated awareness training in Fire Safety is available from MWS.  This may be sufficient to meet your workplace risk assessment.

ITC Level 2 Award in Safe Moving & Handling (England & Wales) or ITC Award in Manual Handling Principles and Practice at SCQF Level 5 (Scotland)

This qualification is intended as an introduction to moving and handling activities for those starting work, returning to work or who need specific training in manual handling, as well as being a suitable qualification for refresher training. Learners gaining this qualification will understand that moving and handling must be carried out correctly and will recognise the importance in ensuring a safer working environment.


A short 3-hour certificated awareness training in Moving and Handling is also available from MWS.  This may be sufficient to meet the workplace  staff training requirements.


ITC Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace (England & Wales) or ITC Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace at SCQF Level 5 [Scotland]

Designed to ensure that all employees are aware of their own safety and the safety of customers, contractors and the public. This qualification can be tailored to business and individual needs to make the learning experience relevant and fit for purpose.


  • Understanding the principles of health and safety and accident prevention
  • Ability to contribute to any health and safety management system
  • Understand the importance of risk assessment as a technique for accident and ill health prevention
  • Understand the responsibilities placed on employers and employees
  • Understand the hazard, risk and main causes of harm to workers (manual handling, hazardous substances, exposure to noise and vibration)
  • Understand the importance of following systems, procedures and rules
  • Understand how individual action can reduce risks to health and safety
  • Appreciate how workplace equipment and task design affect health and safety


A short 3-hour certificated awareness training in Health and Safety is also available from MWS. This may be sufficient to meet the workplace  staff training requirements.
