CONAVIRUS UPDATE: The HSE are not directing organisations or providers to stop delivering first aid training, the reason being is that it is important to have a workforce with trained first aiders. HYGIENE The guidance given by the Resus Council regarding first aid training published on 9th March 2020 still stands. The risk for a first aid course lies with the participants being in the same room, so hygiene procedures need to be maintained in terms of coughs, sneezes, hand sanitising, regular hand washes, etc. The main risk does not lie with ventilation part of CPR. Consultant Microbiologists from the NHS are very confident that the usual best practice manikin hygiene procedures are sufficient to prevent the spread of virus, bacteria and other pathogens.
